Tyson DesMarais, arms crossed, looking straight at you

The Blacksmith.

A blacksmith does not create steel. He reveals it.

He takes raw metal and puts it through fire. Extreme heat that would break most things. Then cold. Then heat again. Over and over. Each cycle burns away what does not belong. Each cycle makes what remains harder, more precise, more capable of holding an edge.

Tyson DesMarais Founder, MIND System.

01 I was the metal

His story, in his words.

The night I was arrested was the night I lost everything. It was also the start of every right thing I have done since.

I came home with my body already built. The work I did inside took care of that. What I had to do on the outside was different. I was building a marriage from scratch. I had not been married going in. I was building a life after prison from scratch. Discipline was not something I was rebuilding. Discipline was the identity I had walked out with. The work was learning what discipline looks like in a free man's life. Then men started asking me how. I told them. They came back, and they brought their friends. That is how MIND System started. No marketing plan. Just the truth, told to one man at a time.

I am not a guru. I am not a motivational speaker. I am just a man who has been through the fire, and came out the other side, and is willing to stand in front of you while you do the same work.

The men I work with are between thirty-five and fifty-five. Most have a good job, a good marriage, a few good habits. They also have a private fight nobody knows about. That is where the work starts.

02 The riddle

Read it slowly.

The riddle his uncle sent him inside. He says it saved his life.

I am your constant companion.

I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.

I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.

I am completely at your command.

Half the things you do, you might just as well turn over to me,

and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed. You must merely be firm with me.

Show me exactly how you want something done,

and after a few lessons I will do it automatically.

I am the servant of all great men.

And, alas, of all failures as well.

Those who are great, I have made great.

Those who are failures, I have made failures.

I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine.

Plus, the intelligence of a man.

You may run me for profit, or run me for ruin. It makes no difference to me.

Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will put the world at your feet.

Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.

Who am I?

Habit.

Attributed to Dennis Waitley.

What the riddle gave him was the vote. He was where he was because of what he had done, one choice at a time.

I voted to be the wrong person.

Now the work is voting to be the right one. Every day.

A loaded chain dragging across a dark gym floor beside an empty bench

That is what prison did to me.

Not punishment. Not destruction. Forging.

03 Forged. Not Fixed.

What came out the other side.

The heat was the isolation, the loss, the weight of what I had done and what I had to face. The cold was the silence. The moments where there was nothing left to distract me from myself. And in that process, everything that was weak, everything that was false, everything I had been carrying that was never mine to carry — it burned off.

I do not build a new version of you. I do not work with the man you hope to become. I work with the man who was always there — waiting. The version of you that was forged long before the world told you to be quiet, be small, be less.

Deep down, you already know this man exists. You can feel him. You have always been able to feel him. And that is exactly why you have spent years feeling restless, anxious, and angry — because a highly capable man has been silenced. Buried under expectations, vices, distractions, and noise. And he is crying out from the depths.

  • What came out the other side was not a new man. It was the real one.

  • Forged does not mean fixed. It means tested, shaped, and ready.

  • That is who we are here for. That is what you are here for.

Our work is simple. We help you find him, free him, and put him through the fire so he comes out forged. Not fixed. Fulfilled. Purposeful. Whole — in every area of your life.
